Home is a bold and inventive new dance production by International Dance Festival Birmingham that will move through the streets of Birmingham city centre over three weeks in April and May 2012.
This short course will give participants an intensive period of time to create and rehearse a contribution on the themes of home, belonging and identity ready for performance.
It’s a unique opportunity to work for four weeks with a Home tutor who will help you develop your own creation for the project. The process will be based on participants’ interests and may include work with text, voice, writing, theatrical skills and, of course, movement.
As part of the short course you are committed to creating a contribution to the Home project, and take part in the performances in Birmingham city centre from Monday 23 April until Sunday 13 May 2012.
The contributions and subsequent performances will be created using door mats as mini stages, chosen because of their association with the theme of home. All participants will be expected to bring their own door mat to the course.
